I am Big Bert Perkins, and I have been a REALTOR for more than 9 years. I've seen my fair share of market ups and downs, but it's obvious that we're living in different times right now. I've worked hard over the years to supplement my real estate knowledge by acquiring specific designatiions given by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). I received a Graduate of REALTOR Institute(GRI) designation, an Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) designation and most recently the E-Pro designation. I am continually adding to my information base whenever I can regarding national & local real estate practices. By doing this I make sure I provide the most reliable services possible to my customers & clients. I specialize in both the buying & selling of Single Family Residences, but because of the relatively small market area I have dealt with all kinds of sales.
My professional life started when I received a BS Degree from the University of Arkansas along with a commission in the USAF. After 11 years I left the Air Force and began my first stint in Real Estate. I was a REALTOR/Broker in Arkansas until 1998. I left real estate for about 10 years and in 2008 returned to Alaska and got back into it during the worst time for real estate in my lifetime. Luckily the Alaskan real estate market didn't collapse like some areas of the lower 48. I recenlty moved over to this new company, Stars & Stripes Realty. I am looking forward to working with more Military buyers and sellers. Every time I drive by Eielson and the ramp is busy with fighters, tankers or bombers taking off, it gives me goose bumps. I was raised at Eielson and it brings back some great memories of my school days as well as my days as a Fuels Officer in the Air Force.
In my personal time, I enjoy watching college football and spending time with my wife and twin long hair girly dachshunds. The girls don't watch much of the games but they do enjoy sitting on my lap during them.
